- “Cost per item” is one current value. Update it after a new delivery and every past margin quietly changes with it – last month’s profit report is rewritten by today’s price.
- Native purchase orders never touch costs. Receiving a PO updates quantities, not your average cost – merchants have been asking Shopify for this since 2023, without an answer.
- Stocky is shutting down. The last Shopify tool that tracked average costs goes offline on August 31, 2026 – and takes its cost reports with it.

Questions merchants ask
- Does Shopify update average cost when receiving a purchase order?
- No. Receiving a native purchase order updates inventory quantities only – Cost per item is untouched, so your average cost drifts away from reality with every delivery.
- Can I export suppliers from Stocky?
- No – supplier records can’t be exported at all. Purchase orders export one CSV at a time. Our checklist covers what to save and how, before the November cut-off.
- What happens to my COGS after Stocky shuts down?
- Your current Cost per item values stay in Shopify, but the history behind them – receipts, average cost over time, cost reports – disappears. That history is exactly what Costline preserves and builds on.
